Under
Action Plan 2006-07, MSME, Raipur has identified Rice Flakes (Poha) cluster at
Bhatapara, Raipur district.This has been taken under MSME-CDP scheme of
DI(MSME), New Delhi and detailed diagonistic study report was prepared by Shri
J.N. Mishra, Asstt. Director (Chem) after visiting maximum number of units and
collecting information / data for the present status of the process, technology
etc.
(I).
To support the sustainability and growth of MSEs by addressing common issues
such as improvement of technology, skills, and quality, market access, access to
capital, etc.
The
association should be made active and inter unit relations must be improved for
common branding for better marketing and export marketing of rice
flakes.Technology up gradation is needed almost 100% units for improvement in
the quality.Scentific quality control methods be introduced to get better
quality white coloured poha products more yield and energy conservation
environment friendly,prevention of spreading of burned rice husk ashes
etc.Improvement in the area of packaging is needed to almost all units.Education
/ tranning to the workers are needed.Enterpreneurs are to be educated towards
implementation of QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (QMS).Promotion of fast units such
as manufacturing of mixture, namkeens and other products to be made so as to
consume the poha locally.
The
diagonistic study report of rice flakes industries situated at Bhatapara, Raipur
district of Chhattisgarh State is prepared at the instance of the Development
commission (SSI) New Delhi M / O of Small Scale Industry Govt. of India. The
report is based on collection of data from majority of the unit and face-to-face
interaction with the enterpreneurs, poha mill Association of
Bhatapara.
Presently
there are 60 units at Bhatapara (Three units are coming up). Total Annual
production capacity of poha at Bhatapara = 1500MTS/Per Annum.The Annual turnover
of all the units MTS 200 Corers per Annum.Average Total investment in the unit =
50 Lakhs. Average direct employement per unit = 30. All units are using Rice
husk as fuel. Ground water is used for soaking purpose of paddy by all units.
Almost all units packing is 40 Kg and 50 Kg. Jute bags / laminated with HDPE or
& PP woven sacks. All units are running single shift per day. Financial
Assistance from Banks. Almost all units have adopted similar
technology.
Markets
: Reputation of the cluster for quality product makes it easy to market the
product.
Marketing
: There is a good scope for marketing the product both at national and
international level.
OBJECTIVES OF THE SCHEME
(II) To build capacity of MSEs for common supportive action
through formation of self help groups, consortia, upgradation of asssociations,
etc.
(III) to create/upgrade infrastructural facilities in the
new/existing indusrial areas/clusters of MSEs.
(IV) To setup common
facility centers (for testing, trainig center, raw material depot, effluent
treatment, complementing production process, etc)

OPPORTUNITIES
Energy : The units may switch over to furnance oil based
roasters for better work in environment and cost effectiveness, also to improve
the quality by controlling process parameters.

introduction of consumer
packs.
